Biafra: Police arrests 10 MASSOB members in C’ River

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested 10 members of the Movement for Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra who recently staged a peaceful protest at Ikom.
Members of the MASSOB on May 30 staged the rally at the Ikom Stadium calling for the creation of the Biafra.
Punch news reported that the police swung into action to arrest the participants two weeks after the rally was held with the alleged approval of the police.
The Spokesman of MASSOB in Cross River State, Mr. Okon Archibong, confirmed that the state coordinator of the group, Mr. Samuel Okah along with nine others had been arrested.

He gave the names of the others to include Shedrack Chinelo, Joseph Ekperebi, Michael Adah, James Ekeme and Adah Johnson.
He said that they were arrested on Monday night at Ikom and Ogoja and were being detained at the Ikom Police Station.
Archibong said, “We have not had any other activity outside the May 30 commemoration of Biafra Anniversary Day, but last night the police from Ikom division went to the home of our state coordinator, Samuel Okah, and nine other persons. They were all arrested.”
He alleged that the police did not give any specific reason for the arrest.
“They did not tell us why the members were arrested. They are all being detained at the Ikom Police Station. No reason was given for their arrest,” he said.
“I have gone to see them at the Ikom police station this morning and they are in the cell. I sought to know why they were being held back but no feedback. During our anniversary march, we did not engage in any confrontation with anybody or group, not even with the police, who gave approval.”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. John Eluu, said he was not aware of the arrest.
“I am not aware of it. I will confirm if it is true,” Eluu simply said before hanging up.
