Security Beefed Up As Buhari Attends Kaduna Musical Festival
President Muhammadu Buhari will be in Kaduna state today,
December 12, to declare open a special thank you musical festival for musicians whose songs aided the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections.
The musical festival organized by the Kaduna state government and sponsored by Zenith Bank, Sterling Bank and telecommunications company, Etisalat, is designed to raise funds for the artistes.
Ahead of Buhari’s visit, security has been beefed in the state and security operatives have been drafted to strategic areas including Ahmadu Bello Stadium, where the event will be taking place, Sahara Reporters reports.
Report has it that the stadium has been decorated with the logo and colors of the festival and security operatives have sealed the main bowl and paths leading to the stadium.
It was gathered that state House press corps are currently undergoing a three-day retreat organized organized by Garba Shehu, President Buhari’s senior special assistant on media and publicity.
According to presidential source, Buhari will also attend the convocation ceremony at Kaduna State University.
Governor El-Rufai told newsmen that the festival was a purely private initiative, and the state government would not commit any funds to it.
He said it was purely an appreciation festival to thank artists who aided the APC’s victory.
The musical festival organised by the state government has been condemned by Senator Shehu Sani. He accused the governor of being insensitive to the plight of the people by organising a music festival as the state and Nigeria faces economic and security challenges.
