Nigerian Police arrest three over Chinese’ abduction
The police in Lagos on Tuesday arrested three suspects in connection with Sunday’s abduction of a Chinese expatriate, Hang Kumming.
The state Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, stated this while fielding questions from journalists at a press briefing.
Kumming, a worker with NEDCOMOAKS, a real estate firm located at Igando Oloja, Elemoro, Ajah, was abducted at about 4:00pm on Sunday at his place of work.
Owoseni said policemen are on the trail of the kidnappers, adding that the expatriate will soon regain his freedom.
He said the man’s abduction from preliminary investigation, was masterminded by an employee of the company.
“We are on top of the situation. We have three key suspects in our custody already and we have activated steps to rescue the man. The kidnap was masterminded by a staff of the company. I cannot tell you much because we would not want to jeopardize the operation,” the police commissioner said.
When contacted, the Managing Director of the company, Kennedy Okonkwo, declined to comment on the issue, describing the allegation that another employee masterminded Kumming’s abduction as a “security matter.”
